Earn a UK BSc Degree Alongside ACCA

ACCA offers eligible students the chance to earn a recognised UK bachelor's degree — at no extra exam cost — while completing the Applied Skills level.

BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting

ACCA students who pass their Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills papers (including FR, AA, and FM) and complete the Ethics and Professional Skills Module are eligible to submit a Research and Analysis Project (RAP) to earn a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting. The RAP is a research-based project completed remotely — not an additional exam.

From December 2025, ACCA has launched a new BSc collaboration with the University of London as an alternative to the Oxford Brookes programme. Both pathways are available and lead to a globally recognised UK undergraduate degree.

Got questions?
we've got answers

Everything you need to know about preparing for your global finance certifications.

01

How many ACCA papers does a B.Com graduate have to give?

Most B.Com graduates from Indian universities are exempt from the Applied Knowledge papers (BT, MA, FA) and sometimes LW and/or PM as well — typically 4–5 exemptions. This means you start at the Applied Skills level and have approximately 8–9 papers remaining. The exact number depends on your university and syllabus.

02

What is the IFRS 18 update in the 2025 ACCA syllabus?

IFRS 18 (Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements) was issued in April 2024 and supersedes IAS 1. It became examinable in ACCA's Financial Reporting (FR) and Strategic Business Reporting (SBR) papers from September 2025. All Peix study materials have been updated.

03

Can a fully qualified CA do ACCA? How many exams?

Yes — Indian CAs (ICAI members) are typically exempt from all Applied Knowledge papers and most Applied Skills papers — approximately 9 exemptions. This means you typically need only 4 papers: SBL, SBR, and 2 optional papers (e.g., AFM + AAA). This can be completed in 12–18 months.

04

What is the 7-year rule in ACCA?

The 7-year rule applies only to Strategic Professional papers. Once you sit your first Strategic Professional paper, you must pass all required Strategic Professional papers (SBL, SBR, and your 2 chosen options) within 7 years. There is no equivalent rule for Applied Knowledge or Applied Skills papers.

05

Is ACCA recognized in the Middle East and UK?

Yes — ACCA has particularly strong recognition in the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia. Many Indian ACCA professionals use it as a springboard for international roles in the UK and Gulf.

06

How is ACCA different from CA (ICAI)?

CA (ICAI) is India's domestic chartered accountancy qualification — highly respected within India. ACCA is a global qualification based on IFRS and international standards — recognized in 180+ countries. Many professionals do both — CA for India depth, ACCA for global mobility.

07

Is ACCA changing in 2027?

Yes — ACCA has announced a major restructure due to take effect from 2027, reducing to 11 papers with greater emphasis on digital skills and sustainability. However, the current 13-paper structure remains fully in force until then.
