Academic Requirements
Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university
CA/CPA/ACCA qualification is accepted in lieu of a degree
You can sit the exam in your final year, degree must be completed before applying for CMA membership
Active IMA membership required to register for the exam (we help you with this)
Work Experience
2 continuous years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management
Experience can be completed before or within 7 years of passing the exam — no rush
FP&A, budgeting, cost accounting, internal audit, financial analysis, treasury roles all qualify
Part-time experience counts — 4 years of part-time work equals 2 years of full-time

Demystified
Two parts. Two windows per year. One credential that opens the world to you. Here's everything you need to know.
Exam Format
Each part has 100 MCQs and 2 essay questions. MCQs carry 75% weight; essays carry 25%.
Exam Duration
You get 3 hours for MCQs and 1 additional hour for the essay section. Total: 4 hours per part.
Testing Windows
Jan–Feb, May–Jun, and Sep–Oct. Three windows a year means you can plan your preparation without pressure.
Passing Score
A scaled score of 360 out of 500 is needed to pass each part. Our structured prep gets you well past this.
Computer-Based Testing
Exams are taken at authorized Prometric testing centers — computer-based, with immediate provisional results.
Validity Period
Once you pass Part 1, you have 3 years to pass Part 2 (and vice versa). No urgency — but stay consistent.

What is the structure of the CMA US exam?
The CMA US exam consists of two parts: Part 1 (Financial Planning, Performance, and Analytics) and Part 2 (Strategic Financial Management). Each part features 100 multiple-choice questions and two 30-minute essay scenarios.
What are the eligibility criteria for the CMA US?
Candidates need a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of relevant professional experience in management accounting or financial management. You can, however, start the exams while still in your final year of graduation.
How long does it take to complete the CMA US program?
