Is the CIMA and CGMA the same thing?
Yes — effectively. CIMA is the professional body. When you complete the qualification and experience requirements, you earn both the ACMA designation from CIMA and the CGMA designation jointly from AICPA & CIMA.
Can a B.Com graduate do CIMA? How many exams do they skip?
Yes — a B.Com graduate is exempt from all 4 Certificate level papers (BA1–BA4) and starts directly at the Operational level. This means 12 exams total: 9 Objective Tests and 3 Case Studies.
How long does it take to complete CIMA?
Most B.Com graduates take 2–3 years. MBA or Masters holders can finish in 6–9 months. Candidates with CA or ICMAI membership can finish in as little as 3–6 months.
What is the CGMA Finance Leadership Program (FLP)?
The FLP is an alternative digital-first route. Instead of 9 separate Objective Tests, you complete self-assessed learning modules and only sit the 3 Case Study exams. Both routes lead to identical ACMA and CGMA designations.
What is the Practical Experience Requirement (PER)?
After passing all exams, you need to demonstrate 3 years of relevant work experience to become a full CIMA member (ACMA). We guide all our students through the PER documentation process.
Is CIMA recognized in the Middle East?
Yes — CIMA and the CGMA designation are widely recognized across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain, especially in large corporates and government entities.
How is CIMA different from CMA US?
CMA US is a focused 2-part exam (6–9 months) best for FP&A. CIMA is a broader 3-level qualification (2+ years) with a stronger strategic leadership focus and deeper case-study testing. Recognition is also stronger in the UK and Middle East.
